During the autumnal season of October, the eye is drawn to the land’s end-of-year beauty. Jonas Gerard’s new Landscape Series displayed at his studio and gallery in the River Arts District captures the indescribable push and pull of the natural world. Open everyday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the Jonas Gerard Fine Art Gallery and Studio welcomes you to come and take in Jonas’s bold color choices and insightful compositions.

The title, “October Picante,” encapsulates these depictions of nature that were “blend a simple sense of wonder with a high-voltage dash of spice.” For anyone who has experienced a deep breath of fall in the mountains, it can be spicy and full of sensations. “We have an exciting new show of Jonas’s new landscape paintings … that is drawn from the beauty of our mountain surroundings and is sure to resonate [with locals],” explains Chris Stack, multimedia coordinator at Jonas Gerard Fine Arts.

An opening reception for the public takes place at 6:00 p.m. on October 18 and the exhibit runs through November 12.

“The essence of abstract art is … to develop a deeper trust in one’s intuition and instinct as they happen,” explains Jonas Gerard on his website. Jonas was born in Casablanca, Morocco and has since established a 5,000 square foot studio and gallery in Asheville. His abstract and representational 2-D and 3-D works in mixed media, acrylics, sculpture, and print have appeared throughout the U.S. Selected collections include appearances at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., the University of California at Berkeley Museum, the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale, and even locally in the City of Asheville Mayor’s Office, Chamber of Commerce, and Capital Bank, among others.

Jonas Gerard Fine Art Gallery and Studio is located at 240 Clingman Avenue. For more information, visit online at jonasgerard.com or call 828.350.7711.
