Zelda Fitzgerald is making a revival this year! We can feel it here as the Asheville Area Arts Council gets ready for the upcoming Tangerine Ball on Saturday, September 15. To give you a taste of last year’s event (the Turquoise Ball), here are some photos that capture the excitement of the evening! This year, think tangerine!
Can you say moonshine?

Well, we can! Troy & Sons is serving signature cocktails at all four parties. WOW! The Wine Studio of Asheville also has a few tricks up their sleeves. The French Broad Chocolate Factory & Tasting Room is having a pre-party called French Broad Speakeasy: An Evening of Chocolate & Moonshine. You can expect a traditional speakeasy with all the prohibition era festivities, including a lot of surprises. The party at 5 Walnut is having a stylist completion on Walnut Street and the Hotel Indigo is hosting “The Damned & the Beautiful” on the 10th floor suites!
Each pre-party is two hours starting at 6:30 p.m. We will converge at the Orange Peel for the finale from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
Many musical acts are performing, along with burlesques performers, live painting, a tangerine boutique, and so much more. This year, Sonia Hendrix of Push Productions will emcee our event and she will be giving away some prizes, including tickets to the Flatrock Playhouse’s upcoming play, Zelda: An American Love Story.
This is one of those nights you have to see to believe. A project like this really shows us the creativity and how our community comes together to make something like this happen. A variety of local restaurants are donating food, props are being made as we speak, and our army of volunteers are in action. We are working away to have the most buzzed about bash of the year.
You can get your tickets at theorangepeel.net and the day of the event you can buy them at 5 Walnut Wine Bar from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Which party will you attend? You can get all the Tangerine Ball information at ashevillearts.com, including information about the window display contest, sponsors and much more.
